The Cyborg Heart in a Can is a good gift for Valentine's Day (Sorry, here use to be a romantic story about an ex-girlfriend, but now it's over, so I left only the step by step).



When the can is closed with the cap, the Cyborg Heart is off. But, when you remove the cap, the switch is released closing the circuit and the Cyborg Heart start to light and move.











Step 1: Materials and tips

MATERIALS:

1 heart shaped thing (I found a heart made of wood. It's Valentine's Time, so don't tell me you can't find a plastic or wood heart)
1 can
1 spring
1 toy motor
1 Playstation joystick motor eccentric weight (or you can make your own eccentric weight using a plastic or metallic piece)
1 Big LED.
1 industrial switch (I dismantled it for the centre of the heart)
1 release switch
1 AAA 2 batteries holder
gears, scratch (for decorating)
red and black wire
screws and bolts
Tin soldering

TOOLS

Dremel Rotary Tool
tweezers
screwdivers
scalpel
pliers
Wire cutters
Screwdriver kit
Soldering Iron
Super Glue


And don't forget the classic building rules (plus one):

1. If you don't have it, replace it!
2. Use protective equipment (dust mask and goggles)
3. Beware of drilled and soldered hot surfaces
4. Work in a good ventilated area.
5. Always have junk in stock.
6. Enjoy.

Step 2: The Centre of The Heart

The heart had a hole in the center, so I dismantled the industrial switch and I install it. It will be the housing for the LED and the spring will be attached in the back.

Step 3: The Circuit

Follow the circuit diagram for the electric part of this project.

Step 4: The LED

To case the LED into the center, I used a wheel from a toy car. Then I glue it with superglue to the industrial switch.

Step 5: The Motor

Attach the eccentric weight to the motor, and fix it to the heart.

Connect the motor wires to the LED (remember: red wire = +, black wire = -)

Step 6: The Spring

Attach the spring to the heart's back. Fix it with a screw.

Step 7: Decorating the heart

I used the knob from the industrial switch (note the arrow) and some gears for a mechanical look.

Step 8: The Can

Attach the spring to the cookies can. Use nuts, bolts and some metallic discs.

Make a hole in the back of the can, for passing the wires to the outer part.

Glue the switch to the can's border. What's the idea? The can's cap press the switch, the circuit is open and the heart is off. When you remove the cap, the switch is released, the circuit closes and the heart lights and vibrates.

Glue the batteries box to the outside and connect all the wires according to the circuit diagram of the step 3.

Adjust the cap to the can and put a beautiful bow in the top. Put the batteries and... give your Cyborg Heart to somebody special!!!
