I love to make a cool project with Arduino. And play with clay is also easy and fun. Then why not to make the replica of our Arduino. So today I will show you how to make a replica of an Arduino
Okay, let's get started!
Step 1: Materials and tools
You will need:
- Dark Blue
You just need the right color. If you don't have the right color, just mix one color with other color.
(in my case, it's kinda difficult to find the right color, so I just mix the clay with acrylic paint color)
- X-Acto knife
Step 2: Getting Started
Print out the picture of Arduino with the same exact size. Then cut the picture with scissors. (see image 1)
I mix the blue clay with acrylic paint (Phthalo Blue) color. Then I get the same blue color like an Arduino had. (see image 2)
Warm up the clay with your hands. Then flatten the clay. (see image 3)
Put the Arduino picture that we cut before onto the clay. (see image 4)
Cut it neatly with cutter or X-acto knife, and be careful. Just try to not ruin the shape.(see image 5)
Step 3: Make a Microcontroller IC
Show All 7 Items
Take the black clay. Warm up the clay with your hands. Make a thick rectangular shaped like a real chip on Arduino. (see image 1)
Then cut it into a half same size. One side it's gonna be the chip, and the other side gonna be an IC socket. (see image 2)
Make a lot of little ball shaped from grey clay. It's gonna be the IC feets. (see image 3)
Put it on the side of the black clay. Do it carefully with tweezers. Press it gently with the tip of tweezers, so clay can attached properly. (see image 4 & 5)
Do it again on the other side of the clay. Once again, do it neatly. (see image 6)
Put the chip clay onto the other side of black clay (IC socket). (see image 7)
Step 4: Make the Female Pins Header
Warm up the black clay with your hands.Flatten the clay. Then slice the clay into 4 pieces. (see image 1)
Make same width but with different length. make 4 of it.
2 pieces with same length, this is for 8 pins header. 1 piece for 6 pins header. 1 piece for 10 pins header. (see image 2)
Use something really sharp or pointy for make a holes. I'm simply using a tip of the tweezers. (see image 3)
Step 5: Make the Male Pins Header & Reset Button
Step 1 (see image 1)
- Arduino have two 2x3 pins header for ICSP. Because the pins it's so thin and small I'll just make 1x3 pins.
- Warm up the black clay with your hands. Then make a little rectangular shape for the pins base.
- Make the pins from the grey clay.
- Put the pins onto the pins base, poke gently the pins clay so it will sticky each other. (see image 2)
- Make 2 of it.
Take the grey clay and make a little rectangular shape for the button base. Then take a little red clay and make a ball shape. Then put the red clay onto the grey clay. (see image 3)
Step 6: Put it all together and add the details
Put one by one the little part that we've made before onto the Arduino base. (see image 1)
Add more details such as DC input (power jack), USB to Computer, Voltage Regulator, Capacitor, Transistor. (see image 2)
Step 7: Make the LOGO
Roll the white clay. Make sure it's not too thick. (see image 1)
Cut the white clay with the same length. Then make a circle shape. (see image 2)
Add the plus minus sign. And you can make the UNO sign from the really thin white clay too. (see image 3)
Step 8: Finish!!
We're done. Yaay!!
Alright, thanks for looking. Have fun and enjoy the replica of your Arduino :D
Greetings from Indonesia!!
